Tyler Hennen and Calvin Hanson scored four goals apiece in Kittson Central’s 12-0 win over the Park Rapids-Menahga-Nevis-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley boys hockey team at the Walker Area Community Center on Saturday, Feb. 8.
Two goals by Hanson, a goal by Landon Sugden and a power-play goal by Adam Gustafson gave the Beacats a 4-0 lead after the first period.
Kittson Central used a 16-4 advantage in shots on goal in the second period to extend the lead to 9-0 as Hanson and Hennen scored two goals each and Luke Misson tallied a goal.
Goals by Hennen and Misson made it 11-0 before Hennen’s shorthanded goal concluded the scoring as the Bearcats outshot Park Rapids 13-4 in the third period.
Goalie Ben Strandlie made 30 saves as the Panthers were outshot 42-17. Kittson Central defeated the Panthers 12-2 on Jan. 4. The 12 goals in those two outings were the most allowed by Park Rapids in a game this season.
Kittson Central improved to 9-3 against Section 8A opponents and 16-7 overall. The Panthers, who were shut out for the fourth time this season, fell to 1-11 in section games and 4-19 overall.
