Blackduck used a 17-4 run early in the second half to spark a 59-41 Northwoods Conference girls basketball victory over Nevis at Blackduck on Tuesday, Nov. 26.
A layup and a pair of jumpers by Addison Lindow, layups by Kia Heide and Makenna Frazier, and jumpers by Mackenzie Mitchell and Frazier gave the Tigers a 17-16 lead with 2:04 to play in the first half. Frazier followed by hitting a jumper, but Blackduck led 20-19 at the half.
Ava Isaacson hit a jumper and scored off a rebound as Nevis trailed 29-25 with 12:12 to play before the Drakes went on a 17-4 run to claim a 46-29 advantage. Izzy Wallace hit a 3-pointer and Mya Stacey hit a jumper and scored on a rebound as Nevis trailed 51-41 before Blackduck closed the game with an 8-0 run.
Frazier (8), Stacey (7) and Lindow (6) combined for 21 points to lead a balanced scoring attack for the Tigers, who went 1 for 13 on 3-pointers and 15 for 65 from the field overall while turning the ball over 34 times. Frazier, Isaacson and Emily Funk grabbed eight rebounds each while Lindow grabbed seven rebounds and had three steals in Nevis’ season opener.
Jada Landis scored 14 points and Alexa Sparby added 13 points for the Drakes, who improved to 1-1.
