Clearbrook-Gonvick survived a marathon battle against Nevis in a Northland Conference volleyball match at Clearbrook on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

The host Bears prevailed 25-19, 25-22, 21-25, 22-25, 15-9 as both teams fell to 4-3 in conference play.

Makenna Frazier and Kia Heide had 12 kills apiece and Cora Umthun tallied 27 set assists for the Tigers, who had 36 kills and 24 hitting errors. Frazier also served three of Nevis’ eight aces.

Sadie Thurner (19), Heide (18), Umthun (11) and Addison Lindow (10) recorded double figures in digs as the Tigers fell to 8-12 overall.

Clearbrook-Gonvick improved to 11-10 overall as Walker-Hackensack-Akeley (6-0) and Pine River-Backus (5-0) lead the conference standings.
