Lars Keranen had four hits, drove in a pair of runs and struck out seven in five innings of work in leading the Menahga baseball team to an 11-8 Park Region Conference win over Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale at Verndale on Friday, May 17.

Thomas Litzau had a pair of hits and drove in two runs while Corey Haataja also had two RBI as the Braves overcame a 4-1 deficit by scoring three times in the third and six times in the fourth.

The win lifted Menahga's record to 2-11-1 in conference games and 2-12-1 overall. BHV fell to 3-9 against Park Region opponents and 3-12 overall.

Payton Rondesvedt and Noah Roers combined on a three-hitter as Wadena-Deer Creek locked up the conference title with a 3-0 win over the Braves at Wadena on Thursday, May 16.

Wyatt Hamann, Chase Nordlund and Dylan Ness each had an RBI as the Wolverines improved to 13-1 in conference play and 17-1 overall with their 10th shutout of the season.

Jack Pietila, Litzau and Haataja had singles for the Braves. Eddie Salmen took the loss, allowing three unearned runs on three hits and four walks in six innings.

Blackduck tops Tigers

Blackduck remained undefeated in Northland Conference play with a 5-2 win over Nevis at Bemidji on Thursday, May 16.

Nevis scored single runs in the first and fourth inning for a 2-2 tie before the Drakes scored once in the fifth and twice in the sixth to improve to 9-0 in the conference and 11-5 overall.

The Tigers had six hits with Derek Lindow (2 for 4 with a double, one run), Reese Kline (1 for 3, one RBI), Wyatt Rech (1 for 3), Cain Mitchell (1 for 3) and Dan Mistic (1 for 4, one RBI) leading the way. Dawson McGee scored the other run.

Lindow started and took the loss after allowing five runs on six hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts in 5 ⅓ innings. Shep Davis finished up the sixth as five Nevis errors led to three unearned runs.

Nevis fell to 7-3 in the conference and 9-6 overall after losing for the fourth game in a row. Walker-Hackensack-Akeley holds the No. 2 spot in the conference standings with a 9-2 record.
