Pinoniemi, Kiser find end zone in loss to LP-GE

Brett Pinoniemi rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown and Kolby Kiser scored on a 15-yard pass from Brandon Miller as the United North Central football team fell to 0-6 on the season with a 27-12 Midwest Red District loss to Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Oct. 5 at Menahga.

Miller threw for 96 yards and added 25 yards rushing as the Warriors compiled 279 yards in offense. Jonah Howard added 16 yards rushing while Mason Dailey had 48 receiving yards and Charlie Hodge had 33 receiving yards.

Leading UNC's defense were Garin Matson (six solo tackles, five assists, one quarterback sack), Dailey (six solo tackles, two assists), Kiser (four solo tackles, four assists), Tyce Lee (four solo tackles, one assist), Pinoniemi (three solo tackles), Miller (one solo tackle, four assists), Brady Vry (one solo tackle, three assists), Brock Kako (one solo tackle, three assists), Kirby Massie (one solo tackle, two assists), Gator Bettin (one solo tackle, one assist), Keegan Womble (one solo tackle), Jonah Howard (one sack), Mason Hotakainen (three assists), Jared Seibert (one assist), Elliot Mickelson (one assist) and Ethan Hendrickson (one assist).

In the other Midwest Red District games on Oct. 5, Ottertail Central defeated Breckenridge 34-20, Pillager defeated Wadena-Deer Creek 38-8 and West Central Area blanked Staples-Motley 14-0. OTC improved to 4-0 in the district and 6-0 overall, Pillager improved to 4-1 in the district and 5-1 overall, West Central Area improved to 3-1 in the district and 3-3 overall and LP-GE improved to 2-2 in the district and 3-3 overall. Staples-Motley and W-DC are both 1-3 in the district and 1-5 overall while UNC fell to 0-5 in district games.

Barnesville remained atop the Section 8AA standings with a 6-0 record following a 28-0 win over Crookston. Hawley improved to 5-1 with a 41-8 victory over Frazee. Bagley fell to 3-3 with a 41-7 loss to Ada-Borup while Roseau joined Crookston at 2-4 after a 14-8 loss to Pelican Rapids. Warroad improved to 1-5 with a 48-6 win over Red Lake while Frazee joined UNC at 0-6.
