Bertha-Hewitt edges Braves 47-46 in finale

Bertha-Hewitt earned a share of sixth place in the Park Region Conference standings with a 47-46 victory over the Menahga boys basketball team in the regular-season finale Feb. 23 at Menahga.

The win gave Bertha-Hewitt a 6-8 record in the conference and a 9-13 overall mark. Menahga, which was defeated by the Bears 68-46 on Jan. 23 at Bertha, fell to 4-10 in the conference and 8-17 overall.

Charlie Hodge scored 16 points and Jonah Howard tallied a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds for Menahga. Hodge also had seven steals while Zach Floyd dished out four assists.

Henning won the conference title with an 11-3 record. Pillager and Wadena-Deer Creek finished at 10-4 with Verndale (7-7) and Sebeka (6-8) following. New York Mills posted a 2-12 record.
