The Park Rapids Esox will get a rematch with Deer Creek to open the Region 14C amateur baseball playoffs.

Deer Creek scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to edge the Esox 4-3 on July 26. Park Rapids followed with an 8-2 loss to Nimrod in the regular-season finale on July 27 to close the regular season with a 6-4 record for third place in Lake and Pine League standings. The Esox ended the regular season with a 7-7 overall record.

Park Rapids received the No. 3 seed in the Lake and Pine League and will open the region tournament by playing Deer Creek (the No. 2 seed in the Hi 10 League) Saturday afternoon (Aug. 3) at 1 p.m. at Perham.

The Region 14C tournament begins Friday night (Aug. 2) with Wolf Lake (the No. 5 seed in the Lake and Pine League) playing Perham (the No. 4 seed in the Hi 10 League) at Perham at 7:30 p.m. and Midway (the No. 6 seed in the Lake and Pine) playing Sebeka (the No. 4 seed in the Lake and Pine) at 7:30 at Deer Creek.

Nimrod (the No. 1 seed in the Lake and Pine) plays the winner between Wolf Lake and Perham Saturday (Aug. 3) at 4 p.m. at Perham while Bluffton (the No. 1 seed in the Hi 10) plays the winner between Midway and Sebeka at 4 p.m. at Deer Creek. Staples (the No. 2 seed in the Lake and Pine) plays New York Mills (the No. 3 seed in the Hi 10) at 1 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 3) at Deer Creek.

The winners’ bracket continues Saturday night (Aug. 3) at Perham and Deer Creek while the losers’ bracket continues on Sunday (Aug. 4) at Perham and Deer Creek. Perham will host the next rounds on Aug. 9 and Aug. 10 with the championship game set for Saturday, Aug. 10 at 4 p.m.

Admission each day is $7 for adults and $3 for ages 13-17. Ages 12-under will be admitted free of charge.

The Region 14C winner and runner-up advance to the state Class C tournament, which begins Aug. 16 and concludes Sept. 2 at Maple Lake, Delano and Dassel.
