The U.S. Bicycle Route System is a network of numbered cross-country routes. There are over 18,000 miles of such routes in 31 states. The bike routes use existing paths separate from car and truck traffic, as well as roads, preferably ones with bicycle lanes or wide shoulders.
Items found in a park along the Mississippi River in Stearns County led to a three-day search for missing 6-year-old Elle Ragin, of Northfield. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office is asking residents along the Mississippi River to keep an eye and report any items that may be related to the search.
The route is dubbed U.S. Bike Route 20, but the public is being invited to help select a new name.
A crash Friday evening involving a motorcycle and truck pulling a trailer loaded with a skid steer near St. Stephen, Minnesota, killed the driver of the motorcycle.

A Stearns County court case is on hold against a St. Cloud mother indicted for murder in the killing of her baby in November. The woman was found incompetent and has been committed to inpatient treatment.
St. Cloud author and entrepreneur Hudda Ibrahim published her third book and second children's book, "Lula Wants to Wear a Badge," on Jan. 18, 2022. Ibrahim, who is Somali, wants the book to show young Muslim children — and all children for that matter — that they can be anything they want to be when they grow up.
A family of five was shot to death in their rural Sunburg home in 1970. The confessed murderer, Neil M. Pladson, was sentenced to 25 years in prison. In 1987, Pladson was released to a halfway house. A year later, he was found strangled to death in his apartment. His killer, Douglas Tank, was his roommate and he told authorities that Pladson had threatened to kill the man's family while brandishing a knife. Tank said he knocked the knife out of Pladson's hand and strangled him.
