Duston Steeke, 17, of Detroit Lakes, underwent a major open heart surgery that required moving his aortic valve to his pulmonary valve, and replacing the pulmonary valve with a donated one. His parents were told the operation would take five hours, and recovery would take five to 10 days. “The surgery lasted 18½ hours,” his dad said. “It was horrible.
