We are part of The Trust Project.

There was an informational mtg at the Jack Pine Resort last Thursday regarding the proposed clear-cutting project on State Hwy. 34. Thank you to all who attended.

I think we all learned more, one thing being the absolute urgency of making phone calls and sending more emails this week!

Logging companies will be allowed into the area as soon as this week and next to formulate bids for the proposed cutting.

Please make calls to ask the governor to please put a halt to the MnDOT proposed clear cutting project on State Hwy 34 between Osage and Four Corners.

It’s unnecessary and terribly disheartening to think that people who’ve been behind this proposed plan are unable to see a bigger picture of what such a loss of trees, plants and habitat for many creatures would mean to the welfare of all of us – not to mention the loss of a most beautiful and unique area in our state.

What we do to nature, we do to ourselves and to those who come here after us. People all over our planet are planting trees with great fervor, and this unnecessary deforestation would be moving in a contrary and backward direction.

The supposed safety reasons that MnDOT has offered to promote this idea have been shown to be misrepresented, and therefore can only be viewed as a marketing ploy.

Please call today to aid the efforts to preserve the beautiful and unique Smoky Hills Forest!

For Gov. Walz: Leave a message at 651-201-3400 or email gov.contact@state.mn.us

And copy your email (or call) MnDOT Commissioner Nancy Daubenberger at

nancy.daubenberger@state.mn.us or 651-296-3000; District 4 Engineer Shiloh Wahl at

shiloh.wahl@state.mn.us or 218-846-3606; and Project Manager Joeb Oyster at kalob.oyster@state.mn.us or 218-846-3505.
