My wife and I participated in a car parade expressing our support for Joe Biden on Sunday, Oct. 11, driving with about 25 other cars through Park Rapids, then round trip to Menahga and back. I wish to thank all those who made it difficult for us: the man in the red pickup who blocked both lanes of traffic on Hwy. 34 east of the Hwy. 71 stoplight for a time, not letting anyone drive forward; the individual who blocked some of our cars from turning left at the green arrow on Hwy. 34 and Main Ave.; the person who hurled a bottle of orange liquid at one of our cars; those who sped around us going south on Hwy. 71 and at our turning point at the Menahga park on the south end of town, spinning up lots of dust, hurling epithets, cursing Biden, praising Trump and liberally using the F-word. You showed us how much hate and bile there can be in Trump supporters and certainly impressed us with your vitriol. Now we know for sure what you're like. God bless you.
To be fair, we also were shown much support in the way of honks, thumbs up and waves – more than the hatred noted above. We really do thank those who let us express our First Amendment opinions. May God bless you especially.
