Editor’s note: First Five is a monthly column on First Amendment issues produced by The Freedom Forum, a nonpartisan, nonprofit founded by Al Neuharth. First Five is an effort to inform citizens on the freedoms protected by the First Amendment. Charles C. Haynes is senior fellow for The Freedom Forum and founder of the Religious Freedom Center.
This is in response to Charles C. Haynes’ column entitled “First Five: Reclaiming religious freedom from culture wars.” This is not a pro-religious freedom group. In my opinion, this is an anti-religious group. This is a group that claims Native Americans have been denied religious freedom. How have they been denied their religious freedom?
This group spouts a lot of talking points, but I say show me the proof.
Again, in my opinion, this group claims to be concerned about certain groups of people but what have you done for them? You use groups of people to divide people in any way you can. Why don’t you just come out and say “we are advocating for a socialist society, that we are trying to destroy the nuclear family, that we are trying to destroy religion or we are trying to pit one group of people from another group of people”?
When I looked on their non-profit website, under council of advisors, there are activists and a founder of black nonbelievers. Now I ask you does this sound like a group that wants freedom of religion for anyone? I reject what you are saying and the trash you are spouting.
