As a small community, Park Rapids seems to have a tendency to publicly ignore when social injustice, racism and words meant to divide rather than heal come into play.

Case in point: On Jan. 7, one day after domestic terrorism by Trump supporters invaded the U. S. Capitol, a city police officer placed a Trump campaign sign in the snow in his front yard.

Do we call out our local police force for condoning terrorism? What does this act by a police officer tell us about the decency of our local police? This officer has children. What kind of example does this set for future generations?
