LETTER: Lions Club built park’s tennis courts
The following is a letter to the editor submitted to the Park Rapids Enterprise by a reader. It does not necessarily reflect the views of the Park Rapids Enterprise. In a recent article in the Saturday edition of the Park Rapids Enterprise, you ran a wonderful and informative article on the redevelopment of the Heartland Park tennis courts into the new, highly used pickleball courts.
One glaring fact missing from that article was who was originally responsible for building the tennis courts.
Back in the 1970s, early 1980s, the Park Rapids Lions Club took out a large loan from local banks, and with club labor and community support, built the courts as a major Lions community service project.
As Lions members, Zelda and I are proud of the Lions motto “we serve,” as we serve our communities, nation and the world.
Lions meet the second and fourth Mondays at 6:30 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran church. All interested individuals are welcome.
