This letter is to acknowledge and celebrate the help we received from strangers who stepped up in a big way.

We had a day-long power outage at our house, just before the recent major snowstorm began. My wheelchair-bound husband requires an electric lift for mobility. That plus lack of heat and water made us decide to evacuate to the AmericInn.

The next morning, a dad named Lenny and his teenage son, Xander, volunteered to get my husband into our van, followed me the 13 miles home on snow-covered roads, and then shoveled our driveway so we could get the van into the garage.

These folks were in Park Rapids for snowmobiling fun and ended up spending the entire morning helping to get people they'd never met safely to their destination. We are most grateful!
