On Thursday morning, Jan. 20, our administrative secretary, Kimberley, arrived at work and noticed an intense odor of natural gas inside the church building. She quickly notified Pastor Roger Grafenstein, who was on his way to town. Others were arriving at church for various activities.
After a few moments of determining the appropriate course of action, 911 was called.
The 911 dispatcher recorded who was calling, then immediately said, "Get out of the building NOW."
We will be forever thankful and grateful for his clear direction.
The Park Rapids Fire Department (PRFD) and Park Rapids Police Department (PRPD) soon arrived.

While a police officer was protecting others from coming into the parking lot, the firemen went to work. They quickly and efficiently discovered that natural gas was over 60% of the air concentration. This extremely explosive situation had presented a serious threat to many lives and our precious church building. We are truly blessed that these emergency personnel entered our lives that day.
What a shining example of highly skilled and trained people working together in our community to keep us safe. 911 dispatch, PRFD and PRPD, thank you so much.
