On Jan. 3, I lost my puppy, Jackson, for two very long nights.

I recently made a move hours away from my family to work here. Jackson has made that distance lessen and brought endless joy with his puppy antics. When I lost him, I lost a part of my family.

Luckily, his quick wit and attachment to me helped him overcome the fear of being lost. With hundreds of Facebook posts, texts, calls, searches, volunteers and overall support from the community, we were able to figure out that he had established a circular pattern in his search for me. Reported sightings from big businesses, local stores and caring members of the community kept hopes high, and was ultimately the reason we found him. We placed ourselves right where all the reported sightings were. With the help of a little luck and patience, he appeared right in front of us and ran into our arms.

I want to give a special shout out to the staff at Dogs Paw for their searching efforts done on their own time. Also, to my colleagues, family and friends who helped in the search and, of course, the people of Park Rapids. You all will always hold a special place in my heart. I could never give enough "thank yous" for the kindness you showed us.

Jackson is safe and sound, enjoying lots of treats and cuddles, and I'm still working on removing the neon-green signs for "lost" my tan and white pup. I think I have most of them now, but if you see a stray sign, please text the number on it with a location so I can pick it up or be so kind as to remove it.
