Letter to Editor: Funk family indebted to emergency service providers
On Dec. 10, Holly and I fell through the ice on Little Sand Lake around 3:45 p.m. on our way to our favorite fishing spot. It was a very dangerous situation, as you can imagine, and we were not able to pull ourselves back onto the ice pack. We clung to the ice pack. Were it not for a private citizen hearing our calls and then calling 911 for help, too many minutes would have elapsed for our successful rescue.
We will forever be indebted to the emergency service providers and lake home owner on Little Sand who responded so quickly. They put themselves at risk for us without hesitation. The situation developed so quickly, not a second was wasted. The moment we were pulled from the water, we were instantly pulled across the lake on a kayak to an awaiting ambulance to an awaiting helicopter to awaiting medical personnel to warm our chilled bodies.
The support from our local hometown has been overwhelming and our gratitude can't be put into words.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
