This is in response to the recent letter from Lynn Goldpark of Lancaster, Pa. which contains numerous left-wing talking points with support of dubious credibility. Does anyone believe the letter many have been solicited by opponents of the Enbridge pipeline?

The author states we have a global warming problem and implies fossil fuels are the cause. In my opinion it can’t be proven whether or not humans are contributing to global warming. Proponents use theory, conjecture, estimates, extrapolation, and computer models to arrive at desired results.

We have official temperature and weather records since about 1885. NASA has been recording questionable world records about 40 years. This is a very short time when compared to the Earth’s age.

Climate change is a natural phenomenon based on evidence. Why do proponents of climate change always stress the negative aspects of change and never mention the positive aspects?

A review of the author’s noted sources of information revealed the indicated government subsidies provided to the fossil fuel industry includes the total subsidies of 20 countries, not just the U.S.

The author says we have the technology to provide and store solar and wind energy in a quantity to power the glove several times over. This may be true technically but not practically. Currently, the size, quantity and cost of required batteries is prohibitive and the amount of required solar panels and wind machines is tremendous. Tesla and other auto manufacturers are having difficulty achieving batteries adequate to provide 400 miles of uninterrupted small vehicle driving.

Green energy may be a viable supplement to fossil fuel energy but the reliability of it is a major problem for suppliers and users. Consequently, fossil fuel energy is necessary as a back-up to provide a steady flow of energy. Also, fossil fuels are needed for trucking, trains, ships, aircraft, military equipment, farming, ranching, construction, recreation, industry, plastics, etc.

I could find no infallible sources of information pertaining to the various statements regarding carbon pollution consequences, increase in jobs, cost comparisons, and climate change disasters.
