I appreciate and read your faith columns that appear each Saturday. In considering Pastor Paul McKibben’s articles this month, and this being Holy Week, I became somewhat troubled.
When we read these words by and about Jesus what is the range of interpretation given to them by the reader? It seems to me that there may be a wide range of meaning given to the terms used. It may be dismissive skepticism on one hand to unexamined fidelity to some doctrine on the other.
Socrates at his trial is credited with the dictum: "The unexamined life is not worth living." Certainly the works, words and claims of Jesus as recorded in the Bible are worthy of our most diligent pursuit. He allows no middle ground either to the skeptic or those of blind faith.
Happy Easter.
