Do you care about recycling and composting and want to learn more?
Take the master recycler and composter class! This class meets for eight weeks on Mondays from 10 a.m. to noon, starting Feb. 3.
In this class, you will learn about the recycling process, composting, household hazardous waste, food waste and so much more! At the end of the eight-week course, you will be required to complete 30 volunteer hours. If you have any questions, contact Kalyn Kopacek at 237-1460.
Hubbard County is currently offering an agricultural plastics recycling program. In order for this program to succeed, only certain materials are accepted. Items that are acceptable include grain bags, silage (which includes most bunker covers and oxygen barrier film), greenhouse film and boat wrap. Unacceptable items include sidewalls, skrim, twine, tubing, net wrap and hydraulic hoses. By only placing acceptable items into the load it will ensure that there will be a greater chance of the material being accepted and recycled.
There are best practices that should be followed in order for the material to be recycled and collected. You should avoid mud and manure as much as possible. You should shake off any foliage, soil or stones off of the material. You can bring the recyclable plastic to either the north or south transfer station.
