Timothy “Tim” James Wilson

(November 1, 1955 – May 14, 2020)

Timothy “Tim” James Wilson, age 64 passed from this world May 14, 2020. He was a lifetime resident of Park Rapids, Minnesota.

Tim was born on November 1, 1955 to Lester and Caryl (Colby) Wilson in Park Rapids, Minnesota. He attended Dorset School, and as the family moved, he went to school in Minneapolis, Moorhead, Fargo and eventually graduated from Park Rapids Area High School. Tim loved hunting and fishing with his grandfather Bill Cates. He learned to play the accordion with his grandfather and loved skiing at Val Chatel Ski Resort, and he also loved water skiing on Blue Lake. Blue Lake is where he lived most of his childhood. He took karate lessons and his grandfather taught him to box. He enjoyed the annual family trips to the North Shore of Lake Superior to stay at a resort and to visit Gooseberry Falls. One of his favorite memories was going to Ely, Minnesota and canoeing in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area with his brother and friend. He learned to fly and bought himself a Cessna 150 airplane. He traveled to the states of Washington , Wyoming, Colorado, and Michigan. Most of his life he worked at his grandfather’s business at Aero Ski Manufacturing which made airplane skies for landing in the snow. He was skilled at making all aspects of the ski. Some of his hobbies were gun shell reloading and working on refurbishing old and experimental airplanes, he was talented at sheet metal and aluminum work, and he liked to grow tomatoes.

He was a reserved and quiet man, with a genuine heart.

Tim is survived by his two daughters; Paula (Brian) Malm, Park Rapids MN; and Kenzie (Jason) Eilers, Castle Rock CO; three grandchildren: Kurt, Willow, and Brielle and his sister Lolly (Michael) Miller, Salt Lake City UT.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and brother Charles “Chuck” Matthew Wilson.
