Paul F. Schmidt

Paul Frederick Schmidt, age 87, of Park Rapids, passed away on March 1, 2020 at the Heritage Cottages in Park Rapids, MN.

Paul was born on March 5, 1932 at Kansas City, Kansas to Edgar and Linda (Tull) Schmidt. He lived on the east side of St. Paul where he attended grade school at St. John’s Lutheran. He graduated from Concordia High School in 1949. Paul spent 2 years at the University of Minnesota. Drafted into the army, he spent his tour of duty in Korea. Paul returned home and attended Dunwoody Institute and graduated as an electrician. He was a proud member of the IBEW Local 110 (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) for over 35 years and worked in the St. Paul area.

He married Doris Nortin on December 30, 1952 in St. Paul. They had 2 children, Susan and David.

Paul retired in 1994 and built a home on Ojibway Lake near Park Rapids. Many years later they moved to Baywoods Addition in Park Rapids. They spent their winters on the Gulf Shores of Alabama.

Paul loved to golf, take walks, grow the perfect lawn, and do anything outside.

He is survived by his wife Doris, of 68 years; his daughter, Susan Schmidt of Santa Rosa, CA; his son David (Janet) of Houston, TX; and granddaughter, Macy Schmidt of New York, NY.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at a later date at Peace Lutheran Church in Nevis, MN.
