Patrick Lawrence Kruse (78) passed away after a short illness on November 6, 2020 at Bemidji Sanford Medical Center. He was born on January 3, 1942 to Edward and Bernetta (Eddington) Kruse in Rock Island, Illinois. He grew up in Milltown, Wisconsin on a farm. Patrick graduated from Unity High School and began working for Amour’s Meat Packaging in South St. Paul, MN. He started a hobby farm in Wisconsin which led to full time dairy farming. For a time, Patrick became a mechanic and owned his own service station in St. Paul. Eventually he moved to Afton and went back to dairy farming until he retired. At retirement, Patrick moved to Park Rapids, MN. He loved this area and the people who lived here.
Patrick is survived by his wife of 42 years Judith; his daughter Camilla (David) Steffen with their children Brandon (Kelsi) Steffen, Kaitlyn Steffen, Zachary (Allison) Steffen; step-children Mark (Cheryl) Kluge with their children Mike (Tabitha) Sanders, Jack Kluge; Brenda Streeter with her children Riley, Hailey, Ellie Streeter and Michael Kluge. He also had 7 great-grandchildren.
Patrick was preceded in death by his son and daughter Thomas and Suzanne Kruse, his parents Edward and Bernetta Kruse, as well as his sister Gwen Wourenma.
Patrick was best known for his sense of humor and the laughter and joy that he brought to all those around him even if it was at his own expense. He always thought he was the funniest person in the room and enjoyed his own jokes best. He loved to sit down and enjoy a game of cards or just relax with a puzzle. He enjoyed being with people at any type of social gathering. He will be greatly missed by those who were blessed to know him. Friends may leave online condolences at ceasefuneralhome.com.
