Larry Walter Sheets

Larry Walter Sheets, age 72, passed away at his home in Akeley, MN on Wednesday, June 3, 2020. Larry was born April 20, 1948, in Onida, SD to Lawrence and Ann (Masten) Sheets. He moved to Osage, MN at an early age and graduated from Park Rapids High School in 1966. He joined the US Army on September 30, 1966, and after serving in Vietnam, was honorably discharged on September 29, 1972.

Larry attended Northwest Technical College in Detroit Lakes and entered a career that included pipefitting, carpentry, and welding. On May 11, 1991, Larry married Janet in Lindale TX. They moved to Minnesota where they have lived for the last 18 years. Larry was an avid motorcycle rider, loving the freedom of the great outdoors. He passed his love of motorcycles on to his son.

Larry will be greatly missed by his wife Janet, son Will (Stephanie) York of Akeley; daughter Sara York Crumley of Gilmer, Texas; grandchildren Daxx, Zekie, Tyler and Caydence; and his special companion, his chihuahua “Posey”. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his three sisters.

A private family service will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements are made by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service, serving northern Minnesota.
