Jerome Laverne Gettel, 60, of Park Rapids, MN died on Friday, August 21, 2020 at Care Age Country Home in Park Rapids, MN.

A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at Cease Family Funeral Home of Park Rapids.

Jerome was born on November 13, 1959 in Sauk Centre, MN to Stanley and Elaine (Schwab) Gettel. He attended Sebeka Public Schools and enlisted in the US Army in 1978. He was honorably discharged with the rank of SP4 in 1983. Jerome enjoyed the outdoors; hunting, fishing, trapping, and mountain man rendezvous. He also had a passion for music and was never far from his guitar.

Jerome is survived by his son, Jeremy Gettel of Bloomington, MN; a grandson, Jon Gettel of Bloomington, MN; a sister, Joanie (Gettel) Miller of Robbinsdale, MN; a brother Bob Gettel of Underwood, MN; and a stepfather, David Priebe of Wadena, MN. He is preceded in death by his father Stanley Gettel; and his mother Elaine (Gettel) Priebe.
