Jerome Bayman

Jerome Gerald Bayman, born October 26, 1939, passed on October 30, 2020 at his home. He was born to Frank Louis Bayman and Alma Clarice (Olson) Bayman in Larimore, ND. The family moved to Akeley, MN in 1950. He served in the US Navy from September 1959 until September 1963 when he was honorably discharged.

He married Enid Benson on March 14, 1964. This union brought two children, a son and a daughter.

Jerome worked in road and bridge construction in the early 60’s. He began working at Ah Gwah Ching in 1966 and continued there for 35 years until his retirement in 2000.

Jerome enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and even once bagged a big bull moose. He was the Akeley women’s softball coach in the 70’s and proudly took the ladies to several championship games. Jerome enjoyed going to the casino and loved a good Texas Hold‘em game with his friends. He took great pride in a nice lawn and always appreciated a dirty joke. Jerome was our self-appointed “baby whisperer” and any infant brought into his home would quickly be confiscated and both would be found sleeping in “Grandpa’s chair”. We have many photos to this testimony.

Jerome simply adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was happiest when surrounded by all of them and the more noise they made, the better.

Jerome is survived by his wife, Enid; children, Steve (Rae) Bayman of Akeley, Brenda Beckerleg (Dan Husby) of Akelely; siblings, Donald Bayman of Black Hawk, SD, Gordon Bayman of Billings, MT, Delores Staffenhagen of Rogers, MN, Janice Bayman of Akeley; grandchildren, Nicole Bayman of Akeley, Gerald (Mandy) Beckerleg of Moorhead, MN, Brittany (Matt) Trujillo of Nevis; great grandchildren, Dominik, Naiara and Apollo Trujillo; numerous nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Alma, and a sister, Carmen Hombach.

Services will be held at a later date.
