Harvey A. Nichols
Harvey Algean Nichols, 70, of Menahga, MN passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.
Harvey was born on April 29, 1950 in Roseau, MN, the son of Dean and Louise (Whilsie) Nichols. His family lived for a time in Roosevelt and Little Fork, MN before settling in Warroad, MN where Harvey grew up and graduated from high school in 1968. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1969-1973 earning the Vietnam-Service and the Vietnam Campaign Medals. He then returned to northern Minnesota. On June 14, 1989 he was united in marriage to Cindy Muggli in Warroad.
Harvey farmed beef cattle all his life in addition to working numerous years at Polaris, Marvin Windows, and Seven Clans Casino in Warroad. After retiring he and Cindy moved to Menahga.
Harvey enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, farming, gardening and spending time with family and friends. He was dedicated to the Catholic Church and served as a Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree which is the highest and most prestigious degree within the Knights of Columbus and is a group of outstanding Sir Knights who are dedicated to the service of their Church, their country and their Order. Harvey also worked with youth and was a lifetime member of both the VFW and American Legion.
Harvey was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
Harvey is survived by his wife, Cindy; children, Keith Nichols of Roseau, Jeffrey Nichols of Warroad and Dean Nichols of Warroad; step-children, Jeffery (Ashley) Quaife Jr. of Roseau, Robert Quaife of Warroad, Michael Quaife of Salo, MN, Jessica Quaife of Warroad; 15 grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Louise; uncle, Leon Whilsie; and brother, Larry Nichols.
Services will be held on Wed Jan 6, 2021 at 11:00 AM St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids, MN. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, Jan. 5 from 4 until 7 PM at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN.
