Gary Ross Current

Gary Ross Current, age 83, of Park Rapids, MN passed away on March 15, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

Gary was born October 12, 1936 to Glen and Doris (Burghart) Current in New Ulm, MN. After graduating from New Ulm Public School in 1954, he joined the Minnesota National Guard and also began work with the Brand Bus Service. He was a member of the New Ulm Voluntary Fire Department for 20 years, retiring as assistant chief. On December 14, 1960 he married Jerilyn Juni at the First Methodist Church of New Ulm. He began work with 3M in 1964. In 1984 they moved to Park Rapids, MN where he worked for L&M Fleet for the next 14 years. He was also owner of Woodstock North Gifts in Dorset.

Gary was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church of Park Rapids. He enjoyed baseball, old time music, being captain of his pontoon, and spending time with his family. He and Jeri wintered in Apache Junction, AZ.

Gary is survived by his wife, Jeri, of 59 years; children, Tammy (Jeff) Schugel of Highlands Ranch, CO, Collin (Michele) Current of Park Rapids, and Craig (Abby) Current of Park Rapids; his siblings, Sharon (Wally) Schwarz of Phoenix, AZ, Bonnie Reich of Seattle, WA, Brenda (Steve) Bauman of Frisco, TX, Clifford (Linda) Current of Yantis, TX, and Calvin (Stephen Allen) Current of Tampa, FL; 9 grandchildren; 2 great granddaughters; and many cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
