Donald Shook

Donald Shook, 76, of Bemidji, MN died Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Gold Pine Home in Bemidji, MN with his loving wife Kay at his side.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 7th Day Adventist Church in Bemidji, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at 2:30 pm, Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at the Henrietta Township Cemetery in Park Rapids, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji.

He was born July 29, 1944 in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Donald and Vera (Maynard) Shook. He was raised on a farm. He graduated from Onawa, IA high school in May of 1962. Throughout his life he owned and operated a variety of businesses; several Napa Auto Parts stores, motels and a trucking business. He retired in 2012 in Bismarck, ND. He met Kay Cookson on September 21, 1985 in Park Rapids. They fell in love instantly and were married October 25, 1985 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a polite, loving, kind hearted, giving and spontaneous man; a true adventurer and entrepreneur. He also enjoyed golfing, gardening, farming, and was a small airplane pilot. He loved starting new businesses. He loved God and Jesus and his children and wife dearly. He was very successful in his businesses, made friends very easily and was a good communicator. He loved dancing and was good at it. He also loved music, especially classical Mozart.

He is survived by his wife, Kay of Bemidji, MN, daughters, Carla (Craig) Day and Cheri (John) Carey, son, Brian Shook, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, sisters, Cheryl (Ken) Smith and Debbie (Wayne) Sadler, brother, John (Gail) Shook, nephew, Mike (Amy) Smith, great nephew, Liam, and great niece, Madeline.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
