Dacle Schmid, Sr.
Dacle L. Schmid, Sr., 84, of Park Rapids, MN, entered his heavenly home on Friday, February 21, 2020 in Park Rapids, Minnesota.
He was born on June 24, 1935 in Lake Emma Township, Minnesota, the son of Valentine and Ada (Anderson) Schmid. He attended Sand Lake School and graduated from Park Rapids High School with the class of 1955. After graduating, Dacle enlisted in the United States Air Force and completed basic training in Bellevue, CA. On June 24, 1956 he married the love of his life, Charlene Hullinger. Together, they made a home and family in Alamogordo, New Mexico while Dacle was in the Air Force. In 1958 the family moved to rural Dorset, MN, where they settled happily back into Minnesota life. In 1963, he was honorably discharged. Dacle worked for the Nevis Creamery delivering milk for three years before he started working at North States Industries. Dacle worked there for 30 years before retiring in 1997.
Ready with a helping hand, Dacle would always bring his hammer and saw to help his family with any building projects. He loved getting firewood and taking care of his garden. Pinochle was a passion of his. Dacle also loved to be outdoors. Fishing daily in the summer and winter, he would take anyone with that would go. He forever looked forward to deer hunting in the fall. Although his specialty was his pickled fish, he also loved smoking fish for his family and friends. A long time member of First English Lutheran Church of Dorset, Dacle will be missed among the community and his family. Blessed be his memory.
