Cornell C. Berg
February 4, 1926 – November 2, 2020
Cornell C. Berg, age 94 years, of Park Rapids, MN, peacefully passed into eternity on Monday, November 2, 2020 at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids. Cornell was born on February 4, 1926 to Clifford and Cora (Leegard) Berg. He was raised in Elbow Lake Township, Grant County, Minnesota and attended country school. Cornell was drafted into the U.S. Army in November, 1944 and served in the Philippines and the Occupation of Korea until his honorable discharge on October 24, 1946. He then returned to St. Paul where he worked for the Waldorf Paper Co. On February 10, 1951, Cornell was united in marriage to Vivian A. Larson in St. Paul. This union was made complete with the birth of a son, Kevin, on April 17, 1954. Cornell and Vivian built a new home in Maplewood, where they resided until moving to a home on Boulder Lake near Park Rapids. In 1987, Cornell retired from the Champion Paper Co. after a 39-year career. In 2002, they sold their lake home and moved into Park Rapids. Cornell was a lifetime member of Guy L. McDermeit VFW Post #6206 in Menahga. He enjoyed the outdoors gardening, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and traveling to many places. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin in 1992; wife, Vivian in 2011; brother, Kermit; and sister, Donna O’Leary. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. Graveside services were held at 1:30 PM, Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in St. Paul, MN.
