Martha Joyce Pearson, 89, of Nevis, MN died on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at the Diamond Willow Assisted Living Center in Park Rapids, MN.
Martha J. Perdue was born in LaGrange County, Indiana on January 15, 1930 the daughter of Forest and Delsie (Walter) Perdue. She grew up in Indiana and attended school at Ashley, Indiana graduating in 1948 and then Elkhart Business University. She worked for some time in Sioux City, Iowa. She was united in marriage to John Andrew Pearson on March 27, 1957 in Park Rapids, MN. They moved to Nevis, MN in 1969 & operated Frosty's Bait Shop in Nevis for many years. John passed away in 1992. Martha was a longtime member of the Nevis Evangelical Church and since 1992 she has been an active member of the Nevis Church of Christ. Her church family was very important to her. She was richly blessed with so many close friends from her church.
Martha enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and floral gardening. She appreciated baking poppy seed bread, writing letters and working in church. She was a big giver, she loved to decorate and create beautiful things. She enjoyed fishing and eating fish. She was extra compassionate, she loved to visit and keep in touch on the phone, and it could be said she perfected the art of conversation. She has resided at the Diamond Willow Assisted Living Center in Park Rapids, MN for the past several years.
She is survived by many family members including - Daughter in law - Mary Pearson of CA; Step son - Richard and Dora Pearson of UT; - grandchildren - Annie and Jim McCoy of Utah; Steven and Keri Pearson of Oregon; Jeremy Pearson of Washington, D.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband - John Pearson, her son - John Wesley.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Nevis Church of Christ in Nevis. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
