Paul Albert Stendahl, 85, of Nevis, MN died peacefully at his home on Friday, May 11, 2018.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM 2018 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Park Rapids, MN. Visitation will be an hour before the services. Interment will be at a later date at the RestHaven Cemetery in Nevis, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Park Rapids.

Paul was born March 18, 1933 in Northwood, North Dakota, the son of John and Inga (Gunderson) Stendahl. He attended elementary school in Grand Forks County and Whitman, ND. He graduated from high school in Michigan, ND in 1951. He attended the Wahpeton, ND State School of Science, receiving a two-year certificate in electronics, He obtained a position with Griffin Radio & TV in Park Rapids. In 1954, he was drafted and served two years with the Army Signal Corp. and was honorably discharged in 1956. He returned to Griffin Radio & TV. In 1957, He was united in marriage to Irene Makela. Two children were born to this union. In 1960, he gained employment with the Federal Aviation Administration. While with the FAA, he traveled a 5-state area installing and maintaining navigational aids at local airports. In 1984, he married Barbara Peabody in Park Rapids. In 1990, he retired from the FAA with 30 years of service. In 1993, he and Barbara opened a gift shop in Park Rapids called the Old Farm Place, which they operated for 7 years.

Paul was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Park Rapids. He was also a member of Post # 212 of the American Legion and a founding member of Park Rapids Antique Tractor and Engines Club.

He is survived by his wife Barbara, Daughter Nancy (Harry) Lindberg, Son Michael (Shelly) Stendahl, Stepsons John (Jody) Peabody, Mark Peabody, four grandsons, one great granddaughter, seven step-grandchildren, fourteen step great grandchildren, and a brother-in-law Robert Jensen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Alvern Bjerke, one niece Marilyn Bjerke and one brother Henning Stendahl. Condolences may be left
