Frederick Hugo Hofer
Frederick Hugo Hofer, “Butch” was born May 2, 1945 to Mary and Christian Hofer in Owatonna, MN. He grew up in Park Rapids, MN where he graduated from Park Rapids High School in 1963. He went on to Bemidji State University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree that said he could educate the young minds. He taught physics and chemistry for several years at Royalton High School. He married Rita Skudlarek on August 8, 1970. From this union they were blessed with four children, Lori, Jason, Lisa, and Jessica. They moved around central and northern MN with their family before settling down in Park Rapids. It was here, where our father farmed, grew a garden, fished and deer hunted. He did not shoot his trophy buck, but always had fun trying. He however caught a fish that was worthy of putting on his wall. He loved playing sports with his kids in the yard, watching their sporting events, helping them with homework, watching the Vikings and enjoying ice cream. Fred was a generous man, with a big heart, and a dry sense of humor. Our dad was kind and will be greatly missed. He often said nothing good ever happens after 10 pm, and nothing good ever comes from drinking. Our dad fought a long battle, with his family by his side, and lost on August 4, 2019. His generosity did not end in life, as he donated his body to research. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary and father Christian. He is survived by two brothers, four sisters, his children; Lori(Matt), Jason(Jennifer), Lisa(Braden), and Jessica(Dan), and grandchildren; Hailey and Crissy Hofer, Abigail Linder, Connor and Owen Arens. A celebration of life ceremony will occur when he returns to us.
