Mona was born on January 11, 1929 in Hillman, MN. At an early age her family moved to Gratton Township near Dora Lake, MN where her father cleared some land and worked as a logger. She attended a one room school house and spent many of her days with just her mother and her pets in the north woods.

At age 15 she went off to high school in Grand Rapids, MN and boarded there as many of the country kids did in those days. After graduation she attended Northwestern Bible College for one year and then married Mahlon Waller on June 7, 1947. They had three children, Timothy, Rebecca and Mark.

After living in Dora Lake, Bigfork, Grand Forks and Hallock, MN they moved to Stillwater in 1954 where they would stay until moving back to Dora Lake in 1980.

Mona enjoyed life and oftentimes expressed it through a childlike simplicity. Her strong faith in God was not a complicated matter of deep theological concerns, but more of a personal connection with the God she loved and who loved her. She was a prayer warrior and would write down many of her prayers filling dozens of spiral notebooks.

Mona worked primarily in the home, raising her family whom she spoiled with her good food, pies, cinnamon rolls and cakes. She also worked for many years at the Aamodt apple orchard in Stillwater.

Mona was also into doing various craft projects from polishing agates and making jewelry, to decoupage, to making pine cone wreaths and sea shell artwork. In her later years she began to do wood carving with the Dora Lake carvers and became quite good making many keepsakes for her children and grandchildren.

If she could share one more thing with her friends and family it would be this, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved."

Mona was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mahlon; daughter, Rebecca (Taylor) Rollins; parents Gabriel and Myrtle Olson.

She is survived by her 2 sons, Timothy of Hines, MN and Mark (Beth) of Park Rapids, MN; 7 grandchildren, Keri Waller, Chris Waller, Caleb Waller, Josh (Tina) Waller, Erica (Jonny) Silva, Benjamin Waller and Andy (Alyssa) Waller; and 7 great-grandchildren.
