Nancy Alison Kowalke, 79 of Nevis, MN died Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Sanford Fargo Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, August 9, 2019 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids, MN with Rev. Fr. Thomas Friedl as celebrant. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Thursday Aug. 8 with a rosary and vigil prayers at 7 pm at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the services at the church prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be held at the Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Cemetery of Nevis, MN. Nancy was born April 6, 1940 in Nevis, MN the daughter of Melvin and Alice (Steel) Rand. She married Joel Kowalke on October 14, 1961 and went on to have 8 children together. She enjoyed living a simple life as her hobbies included sewing, quilting, gardening, canning, and baking. She spent her life giving to others and her family was the center of her world. She was a devoted wife and mother; and a very proud grandmother. Later in life she enjoyed traveling, with her favorite trip being to Sitka, AK fishing. She was a faithful member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Joel Kowalke of Nevis, MN; 7 children, David (Sheri Donat) Kowalke of Nevis, MN Diane (David) Kluck of Hawley, MN, Dean Kowalke of Park Rapids, MN, Denise (Richard) Steinke of Fargo, ND, Dennis (Brenda Wehmas) Kowalke of Osage, MN Daniel (Joy) Kowalke of Sartell, MN and Darin (Richelle) Kowalke of Nevis, MN; 4 siblings, Melvin Rand of Pensicola, FL, Carol Clark of Chickasha, OK, Charles Rand of Nevis, MN and Betty (Don) Renneberg of St. Louis Park, MN; 14 grandchildren Nicole, Briana, Lea, Kaitlyn, Faith, Scott, Chad, Christian, Jordan, Mallory, Joel, Samuel, Blake, and Miranda; honorary grandchild Sharon; and many nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Denette, granddaughter, Katelyn, siblings, Rasmus “Alan” Rand, Raymond Rand, and Michael Rand.
Casketbearers will be all of Nancy and Joel’s grandchildren.
