Peterson, Ahlf spark Braves past Wolves in season opener

Alyssa Peterson and Cierra Ahlf combined to hit 11 3-pointers and score 57 points in leading the Menahga girls basketball team to an 80-37 win over Walker-Hackensack-Akeley in the season opener Tuesday night (Nov. 27) at Menahga.

Peterson hit three 3-pointers as the Braves jumped out to an 18-6 lead while 3-pointers by Peterson and Ahlf gave Menahga a 35-16 advantage at the half.

Ahlf connected on four 3-pointers in the second half as the Braves pulled away by outscoring W-H-A 45-21.

Peterson finished with 29 points and five steals while Ahlf had 28 points, eight rebounds, seven steals and three assists. Tara Hendrickson chipped in 12 points and nine rebounds while Timbr Berttunen had three assists as the Braves made 12 of 41 3-pointers and had 20 steals in the game.

Bri Raddatz had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Wolves, who missed all 16 3-point attempts and turned the ball over 33 times.
