A woman reported getting robbed by a man carrying a handgun shortly before 7 p.m. Monday in the parking lot of the Bingo Palace in Grand Cities Mall.
Grand Forks Police Sgt. Bill Wyatt said the middle-aged woman was getting out of her vehicle to go into the Bingo Palace when a man came up behind her, grabbed her shoulder bag and said, "I'm taking your purse."
She struggled with him, and the man displayed a black handgun and knocked her to the ground, she reported.
The contents of her purse spilled on the ground. The man grabbed her wallet and ran. The woman said she thinks the man got into a vehicle and drove north out of the parking lot.
She described him as a white man, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, medium build, wearing dark clothing and a baseball hat.

Because of the investigation, Wyatt didn't release the amount of money stolen.
"We are still looking for witnesses," he said, and no one had been apprehended by 9:30 p.m.
The woman did not require any medical attention.
Wyatt said he knows of no other similar robberies in the area.
