One person was injured in a car accident Monday in Lakeport Township.
According to a Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office news release, at 11:45 p.m. dispatch received a call of a single-vehicle crash with injuries on County 39 in Lakeport Twp. Deputies and medical personnel responded.
Upon arrival, deputies found the driver, 27-year-old Amber Sonephady of Backus, being treated by North Memorial Ambulance personnel. Investigation showed that Sonephady had left the 3rd Base Bar in Laporte and was driving a 1995 Chrysler Lebaron east on County 39 when she drove off the road and crashed into the trees.
Sonephady was trapped inside the vehicle for approximately 45 minutes before a Cass County deputy arrived on scene and was able to remove her from the vehicle. She was then transported by ambulance to CHI St. Joseph’s Health in Park Rapids and treated for her injuries.
The driver had been drinking, according to the release. A blood sample was taken to test for blood alcohol level. Test results are pending.
