A 36-year-old Moundsview man was arrested without incident Friday afternoon after leading Swift County lawmen and State Troopers on a miles-long high-speed chase.
According to Benson Police Chief Jim Crace, Dennis Wayne Aasen was found hiding in a parked vehicle and was taken into custody about 45 minutes after the incident began. He was wanted on two felony arrest warrants and was driving a stolen vehicle, which he crashed into another vehicle in Benson before running from the scene.
According to Crace, the incident began around 3:30 p.m. Friday when Minnesota State Patrol Sergeant Greg Peterson saw a vehicle that failed to stop for the stop sign at U.S. Highways 59 and 12 west of Danvers. The car was clocked on radar going 106 mph and the trooper pursued it on county roads. Crace joined the pursuit and called for more assistance, from Swift County deputies and off-duty Benson officers. The chase continued on State Highway 9.
As the pursuit neared Benson, the officers terminated the pursuit in an effort to get the suspect to slow down. The suspect vehicle, identified as stolen in Morris, collided with another vehicle at the intersection of State Highway 9 and 29. The driver fled, but bystanders informed officers of his description and the direction he fled. No one was injured in the crash.
The man was located by Benson Police Sgt. Mike Jambor and Police K-9 "Major" about 25 minutes later in a parked car in the parking lot of the Farmers Union Insurance office.

In addition to the felony warrants for drug possession and domestic assault by strangulation, Aasen faces charges for motor vehicle theft, fleeing an officer in a vehicle, fleeing on foot, reckless driving, stop sign violation, driving after revocation, speeding and leaving the scene of an accident.
