Wadena-Deer Creek's girls and Thief River Falls' boys captured team titles at Tuesday's Park Rapids American Legion Invitational track and field meet at Vern Weekley Field.
W-DC used seven first-place efforts to compile 138 points to top Park Rapids' 117 total to win the girls title while Thief River Falls won four events and tallied 107 points to top the eight-team boys field. Park Rapids finished fifth with 65 1/3 points.
Steph Kueber took first in the discus with a throw of 93 feet, 2 inches and the 4 x 400 relay team of Kyja Penning, Hannah Wolff, Victoria Lutz and Kayla Stursa finished first in 4:36.68 to lead the Panthers. Stursa was also second in the 3,200 run and the 4 x 200 relay team of Tracey Peterson, Rachel Thelen, Alyssa Klingenberg and Kaitlyn Nelson finished second. Katie Damlo tied for second in the pole vault.
In the boys meet, Lars Ellefson won the 3,200 run in 11:29.93 while Kyle Christianson had a pair of runner-up finishes in the shot put and discus. Justin Blanford also took second in the long jump and Jerry Warmbold was second in the triple jump.
Charlie Hrdlicka won the 100 dash in 11.22 and helped the 4 x 100 relay team to a winning time of 46.56 as Sebeka-Menahga finished eighth with 46 points.
