Vergas man critically injured in crash near Perham

PERHAM, Minn. - A Vergas man is in critical condition after a car accident Saturday afternoon west of here along Highway 10, the Minnesota State Patrol said in a news report.

PERHAM, Minn. - A Vergas man is in critical condition after a car accident Saturday afternoon west of here along Highway 10, the Minnesota State Patrol said in a news report.

Jerry N. Haase, 73, was crossing Highway 10 from 460th Street around 5:20 p.m. when another vehicle struck his 2008 Toyota Corolla on the passenger side.

The other driver, David A. Niehaus, 38, of Perham, was traveling eastbound on Highway 10 in his 2012 Dodge truck.

Haase was airlifted to Fargo in critical condition, while Niehaus had no apparent injuries, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office.

The Perham Police Department, Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office and Minnesota State Patrol responded to the accident.

The Minnesota State Patrol is in charge of the investigation, which is ongoing.
