A Benedict surgeon is being held in the Grand Forks County jail on a charge of attempted murder against a Hubbard County 10-year-old.
Dr. Dennis James Sullivan Jr., 50, is likely is on his way to Fargo to face charges of Driving Under Suspension. The Grand Forks County Correctional Center released him Wednesday afternoon.
His medical license indicates he has a Walker address that is currently active. He has no disciplinary actions against him and became a surgeon in 2000.
According to the Grand Forks intake log, he was booked into the jail there at 7:30 Tuesday evening.

The complaint indicated Sullivan jammed his fist, covered by a plastic glove, down a foster child‘s throat as punishment when his wife came upon the scene and stopped him.
He was being held on a Hubbard County attempted murder warrant.
Hubbard County Attorney Don Dearstyne said he drafted a three-count complaint including charges of Second Degree Attempted Murder, First Degree Assault and Second Degree Assault, both with intent to do great bodily harm. He declined comment on the specifics of the incident that led to the charges.
Sullivan's criminal record indicates he has been convicted of speeding in 2007 in St. Louis County, a Game & Fish Violation in 2007 and a Third Degree DWI in Cass County in 2009.
He was arrested for driving with a suspended license in Grand Forks Tuesday night.
His primary place of practice, according to his medical license, is Milbank.
His medical degree came from the University of Minnesota.
Sources said he keeps a plane at the Nary Airport and flies to several areas of practice.
