Power has now been restored at Itasca State Park near Park Rapids, MN, according to the Minnesota DNR's website.
Power was knocked out for over a day at Itasca State Park after a massive storm made its way through the area early Thursday morning. According to the Minnesota DNR's website, Itasca State Park's campground will be fully operational Friday morning as well as the campground office, park office, and South Contact Station Park phones are still not working and if you plan on hiking, the hiking trails are not recommended until an assessment of hazard trees is completed. Crews have began clearing hiking trails Friday morning, but no word on a specific time for the reopening of hiking trails.According to the website, lodging for most cabins and rooms will be available beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 23. The Douglas Lodge area, including Forest Inn, are currently closed for tree removal as well as Wilderness Drive. Campers that booked lodging for this weekend that were not able to camp due to the cancellation will be receiving a full refund.
