Two injured in Cass Lake accident Saturday afternoon

A two-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon on U.S. Highway 2 west of Cass Lake resulted to injuries to two individuals.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol out of Thief River Falls:

A 1998 Plymouth Neon driven by Shirley M. Jantzen, 56, of Cass Lake, was eastbound on Highway 2 when it began to turn left across westbound lanes of traffic. A 2002 Ford Taurus driven by James R. Walker, 54, of Cass Lake, struck the Neon on the front passenger side.

The accident was reported at 1:42 p.m. 5 miles west of Cass Lake in Hubbard County.

There were two occupants in the Neon. Jantzen was treated and released at an area hospital, and the unidentified passenger was not injured.

There were three occupants in the Taurus. Walker was not injured, but a passenger, Sharon K. Walker, 51, of Cass Lake, was taken by ambulance to North Country Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other passenger, who was not identified, was not injured.

Both vehicles were totaled.

The Cass Lake Police Department assisted at the scene.
