GLYNDON, Minn. - Two people died and three were injured in a two-vehicle crash east of here about 5 p.m. Sunday.

The broadside crash occurred at the intersection of Highway 10 and Highway 9 near the Buffalo River Race Park, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

Lt. Chuck Backes said a passenger car with three people was headed south on Highway 9 when it failed to yield for a pickup that was westbound on Highway 10.

The pickup broadsided the car, and occupants of the car needed to be extricated, Backes said.

The driver of the car and the back-seat passenger died. One died at the scene, and the other died at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, Backes said. They were not wearing seat belts, Backes said.

The third person in the car, Linda Schroeder, 63, Pelican Rapids, was taken to Sanford Medical Center for injuries that were not life threatening.

The State Patrol plans to release names of the fatalities today. The news release says the driver was Schroeder's husband.

The occupants of the pickup, David Hamm, 52, and Jerri Hamm, 50, both Backus, Minn., were treated and released from Innovis Hospital, the State Patrol said.

LifeFlight responded to the accident, but no one was airlifted, Backes said.

The crashed caused significant traffic delays on Highway 10.
