Attorney Mark Thomason has sold his law practice to Sara Swanson and Roger Zahn, but he will continue to view the Fish Hook River as it winds its way through Park Rapids.
Thomason intends to remain in practice at the Edgewater Office Plaza, "working with clients on a contractual basis for the foreseeable future."
Swanson, a Park Rapids alumna, has been practicing since 2008, obtaining her law degree from the St. Thomas College of Law. She was admitted to the bar in October 2008.
Swanson and Thomason worked collaboratively on cases since she joined him at the firm.
In February, Swanson purchased Jim Wallace's practice, Wallace having assumed the role of president at Citizens National Bank. Swanson has interrelated Wallace's practice with hers, the attorneys working in similar areas of law.

Wallace's legal assistant Sandy Green moved across the street and river to join the firm.
Swanson focuses her practice in family law (including divorce, adoption, child custody and support and child protection), real estate, estate planning, guardianships/ conservatorships and small business formation.
Swanson, who recently became Mom to Evelyn Kate, is president of the 15th District Bar Association and vice president of the Hubbard County Bar Association. She serves as treasurer of the Headwaters Intervention Center board of directors.
Zahn leaves behind a 45-minute metro commute in Minneapolis, where he spent 35 years. On a busy day, he now meets three cars on his 10-minute commute from Potato Lake.
When he spotted a notice regarding the sale of the Thomason practice, he headed north - in February - to begin discussions with Thomason. He officially began with the firm in June.
Zahn graduated cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law in 1980, practicing with the firm of Thompson and Klaverkamp, the focus commercial real estate. The firm subsequently merged with Oppenheimer, Wolff and Donnelly, offering legal practices to small and medium-sized businesses.
He left in 1992 to become a founding member of the firm that became Furber Timmer Zahn. His focus was representation of entrepreneurs, something he's "dabbled in."
Zahn's focus is real estate, estate planning, probate, family law, business law and general civil work.

Thomason, who recently retired from Northwoods Bank's board of directors after 20-plus years, has served as Hubbard County Attorney. The 1971 University of North Dakota law school graduate focuses his private practice in real estate, estate planning, probate administration, guardianships/ conservatorships and representation of townships, banks and local businesses.
The attorneys intend to remain on the South Grove location. "We're not moving," Swanson said.
