An area middle school teacher has been arrested on suspicion of possession and distribution of child pornography.
Eddie Eugene Himes, 65, was arrested Thursday at his home in Northern Township, according to a press release from the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office.
Himes is an emotional and behavioral disorders teacher at Cass Lake-Bena Middle School, the release said. A spokesperson for the Cass Lake-Bena School District could not be reached for comment Thursday afternoon.
The case has been forwarded to the Beltrami County attorney's office for consideration of charges of possession and distribution of child pornography, the release said.
Himes is being held in Beltrami County Jail pending a first court appearance, which is expected to occur Friday, the release said.

Himes was arrested following an investigation by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, St. Paul Police ICAC Unit and Beltrami County Sheriff's investigators, the release said.
