The stoplights at the intersection of Highways 34/71 in Park Rapids should be in operation by Friday, June 8, weather permitting.
Currently, there is a four-way stop at the intersection.
At Thursday's contractor's meeting, Gary Fingalson of Sellin Brothers said underground utility work was scheduled to start at the intersection of Highway 34 and Main Friday or Saturday.
Business owners can expect water to be shut off for several hours on a couple of blocks of Main Saturday, according to Fingalson.
Utility work on Highway 34 between the intersection with Highway 71 and Riverside Avenue will be delayed until concrete work, including curb and gutter, is finished at the intersection.

Fingalson said digging will extend south on Riverside for an unspecified distance to make a water connection.
Earlier, it was expected a detour on Western Avenue to Monico Lane and Helten Avenue would open Monday. Thursday the date was less certain as some utility lines may have to be relocated. Once the detour is in place, the asphalt on the south half of Highway 34 will be removed between Western and Fair avenues.
Utility work on Fair Avenue started this week, so the detour directing trucks along Fair, Industrial Park Road and Highway 71 south is off until Fair Avenue is completed.
Next week, work will step up on the realignment of 169th Avenue with CSAH 4. Earthwork is scheduled through Thursday.
The south side of Highway 34 will be restricted to two lanes on the north side until mid-July.
Construction will start at 7 a.m. and continue until 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and start at 7 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. Fridays.
Weekly construction meetings will continue at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Park Rapids Area Library, located at 210 West 1st St.
